DAILY DOGGIE - FEB 27, 2026 (by Carlene White)

Dd 2 27. I started watching the draft horse show ( ?in iowa?)with 6 horses--- I never thought they would have an 8 horse division—

And I thought maybe some of. You would be interested in some of the details---like.... These 8 hitches were all clydesdales --like the budweisers -4 pairs  4 legs per horse  that’s ?16. legs and there were12 “hitches” that is 12 x 16? And there was only one horse with one black hoof--- the rest all had those t lovely white legs—– the other thing they had to haqve is a white strip down their nose---  an awful lot of “extra “ horses  that did not meet the color requirement--- that gets to be like harlequin danes.

the nose of one of the 8 to the nose of the next is 10 feet--- 8 horse hitches which are just like the Budweiser hitch ( 4 pair)the nose of the front team. Is about 45 feet from the person trying to drive them.. And that person we'll have 8 reins in his hands because you can't just steer the front ones and let the rest follow.. Think carefully if you're turning a corner in a parade if the front ones go round the corner and the next couple pair just kind of follow them then the wagon that you're pulling is going to cut the corner and you're going to wipe out the crowd or the fences or whatever so you have to steer the front front 2 pairs around the corner and the back tube gets steered in the other direction until the wagon starts to make it through the hole if you're trying to go through it's a little tricky but that's what all those reins are about and that was true not only with the Budweiser horses but the 8 donkeys that I was trying to drive. I used to practice trying to control the 8 reins .. I started out with me driving the 2 leaders and ann driving the back 2..

it was. Exciting. i.e. my hitch of donkeys was not as accurate as the budw2eiserwss....-

he other exceptional thing about the draft hor4ses is—they have a very good WHOA... They got all of these hitches lined up in a row and they just stood there not one moved.. You couldn't do that with a bunch of riding horses.. The other thing to look up somewhere is there are two accidents of the budweisers where they get tangled up and tipped over the kind of interesting to watch because those horses don't move. If that was a normal horse situation there would be an awful lot of thrashing etcetera but both of those accidents  turned out fine basically because of the whoa

maybe—just maybe. I will get out to home depot today

don't let this snow detract you from the shatting.....please and thank you !!!
