DAILY DOGGIE - FEB 20, 2026 (by Carlene White)

We Are still getting Christmas cards returned to us that apparently have the wrong address or something so if you didn't get her Christmas card that probably is why and while we're at it I'll make another pitch for if you are minus any prize winning stuff to let me know I don't have any sitting here at the moment unfilled --- well I do ---the last the last shattering was when life was very busy but I don't think I mailed out any at that point to the four winners 5 winners whatever I will check on that today

Janine is still in Aiken and managing to get it into all sorts of problems down there. Like she apparently bought a pig it is at the moment trying to get it to walk on a leash... I think it's a small pig of some kind and there was some special deal about her returning the pig to the breeder if the whole situation got out of hand which I imagine it could very easily at any rate she's working on getting a pig Lee ash trained to go to nursing homes with the rest of our crowd I had two bits of information to pass on which I think are true--- I think that if you feed pigs only grain based food without any meat or fat then they're poop doesn't smell as bad because that pig that we had in Lynnfield Lucy she never smelled funny and I think that was why the second bit of information I had for Janine was if you're going to try it and leash train a pig use a Figure 8 rope to begin with because pigs are shaped that they can back out of anything around their necks and they are very smart to figure it out again so that pig even gets away once you're in big trouble but they are very nice very trainable and I hope you get the train to come back here I could cope with the pig that was properly raised and trained and fed—

Now for variety's sake Justin taught me something new yesterday which I did not know--- if you're using a meat thermometer you should check to make sure it's calibrated correctly and you do that by sticking it in a glass of ice water which presumably is 32° and if it's not registering 32° then there is a nut which you can twist to adjust where the pointer goes.

So much for the lesson of the day.

I think I am more mentally stable if I have a project if I should around in the chair with nothing to do I find that very depressing however if I have a project then I can sit there and calculate whatever it needs to be calculated and get on with the project which at the moment there's two projects

I cannot tell you how many times I have said to someone who has a Great Dane who or who has just gotten a Great Dane then if the going gets rough and you're desperate for some place to put the dog so he stays out of trouble

hopefully usually the bathroom is your best bet that usually works OK except I did have an owner who's Dane managed to eat through the wall and get lost but that was unusual at any rate I have used this crate here in my apartment for only four hours in the last six weeks while journey while Judy was gone--This means I have given up 15 square feet ohh my apartment the house that dog for four hours I think I can readjust the bathroom and to make that into a holding area that would give me more breathing room in the apartment.

I do have one other project in mind and that is we need to have gates in the front part of the 3 kennels in the ICU building.. I started thinking the normal sort of plywood and two by fours and I suddenly realized I built that damn place to be totally waterproof and not have any wood in it shall I return thought that whole project ohh Justin's living quarters ... Should be half of the upstairs which is about 20 by 30 and is carpeted with a rug given to us by doctor Myers-- For some unknown reason we already own 2 sets of metal staircases which could be 1 outside and one inside which would give us 2 proper escape routes. We might need a light or a TV or something like that but the downstairs would be more living room kitchen and would be a common use area
